Pixel Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join a Social Welfare Organisation Charity based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. Immediate interviews on offer! This is a permanent, full time role; Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Salary on offer at £31,822 per annum + excellent benefits.

Pixel Personnel are currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join our client based at their West Yorkshire Office in Pontefract to support the region.
This role will support the Senior Social Worker in case allocation, staff induction and training, service marketing and promotion, alongside carrying a caseload. Some staff supervision and management may also form part of the role. This role will also provide high quality, community based advice and support for former miners and
their dependants, who may be experiencing issues such as ill health, disability, financial, social, or emotional. The service is normally predominantly delivered on an individual basis within the clients homes but may also include group work within community venues.

Responsibilities of the Social Worker include prioritising and actioning referrals to the organisation in an efficient and effective manner; allocating referrals, providing support, guidance and casework supervision to the team, supporting the team with safeguarding issues in conjunction with the Senior Social Worker and this role will also carry a caseload of clients of its own. You will need to carry out high quality assessments and provide a range of interventions in response to the assessed needs of the client, including welfare benefits advice, advocacy, emotional support and practical advice. You will also be expected to contribute to the development
of new services for our clients. You will also need to gather and analyse information in relation to the client and also maintain accurate records and ensuring the database is kept up to date. Other responsibilities will include liaising with and building relationships with a variety of external agencies/partners and promoting the service to other professionals and also the clients, utilising basic counselling skills, providing accurate information and written reports for internal and external
communication in line with GDPR.

Adults Social Worker Requirements:

  • Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification and current professional registration
  • Evidence of learning through continued professional development and its application to practice and/or mentoring
  • Experience of undertaking professional assessments, planning and intervention
  • Knowledge and understanding of the values and principles underpinning working with vulnerable adults and their carers within the community
  • Experience of working with older people and/or those with disabilities within the community
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability
  • Good working knowledge of the welfare benefits system
  • Ability to create good working relationships with clients and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload with integrity and professionalism
  • Knowledge of and ability to use IT systems, including databases and Microsoft packages
  • Ability to prepare reports for both internal and external purposes
  • Self-motivated, with good personal organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to empathise with clients and their dependents/carers
  • Good judgement and logical decision making ability
  • Ability to resolve problems in a proactive, practical and positive manner
  • A valid driving licence and own transport
  • Flexibility to travel, with occasional overnight stays as required and flexibility to work outside of 9 – 5 on occasions
